Join Hubbub and project partners Gecko, Told by an Idiot and Can’t Sit Still on Friday 22 June 2018 at Déda for a day of devised integrated physical theatre, ‘LaunchPad exploring the Space in Between’ learning disabled and non-disabled performance. Hubbub is an integrated physical theatre company working with actors with moderate learning disabilities to create original indoor and outdoor performances. Over the last 12 months Hubbub has established an actor training model for performers with learning disabilities which develops a collaborative working approach to enable all kinds of professional theatre makers to work together and the event will showcase what they have learnt to date. The day is designed for performers, theatre makers, producers, artists, writers, directors and creatives and Hubbub aims to give an insight into the process and experience of working in a devised physical theatre space with actors with and without learning disabilities. It will be a day of doing, seeing, talking and reflecting on the unique creative potential inspired by a collaborative approach. The event offers opportunities to learn more about the company’s technique and philosophy, as well as practical exploration through workshops led by Hubbub, Gecko, Told by an Idiot and Cant’ Sit Still. There will also be a scratch performance of their work in progress and the chance to take part in meaningful conversations about the reasons we make work and who we make it for. Having the opportunity to understand the different needs of all kinds of performers and consider new communication methods will help you to get the very best out of the artists you work with, whatever their skills and abilities. Even if your focus isn’t working with learning disabled performers, the day will offer exciting new approaches to devising creative work and a vibrant arena in which to discuss, share and grow.
